Second piece of chocolate

Today, i was watching Criminal Minds on television and right at the end, Agent Reid quoted Sir Isaac Asimov:

'In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate' This quote got me thinking and here comes the boring me...

Does life continue after checkmate? Does checkmate symbolizes the end of the game hence the end of life? This quote is very subjective because when you view it in a different angle, if could mean something different. For example, a game of chess could be indeed represent life and if it does, checkmate does mean the end of life.

Another view is that a game of chess is just part of your life, just like an event in your life. Doesn't matter how bad or good that event is, life will still continue. You can view this as a a chess tournament, you have to win series of game to win the tournament. Just like life, where it sets up different stages where you have to go through. i.e; Adolescent, Young Adult, old age...etc...

The two views do agree on one thing. You as the player must make the correct moves to win the game. If you make the wrong move, you will face the consequences. This is the same as life, you are the player and you have to make decisions everyday that could completely change your life. The only differences from a game of chess and real life is that right after the game of chess, you can always start again. In life, you can't do such thing. There is no restart button.

Always make the right choice and if you do make a wrong choice, learn from it, everybody makes mistakes :) Everyday is a single move in a chess game. Move it wisely, and enjoy it. It's my turn to move my piece and i think i'm going to sleep :) Good night!! btw, keep smiling :)
